Sina. – From Love To Dust

null

“From Love To Dust“ is a two side EP of Barry Gordon, Ireland / UK based producer. He grew up listening to classic rock like Led Zeppelin & Rolling Stones and played in several bands. Barry fell in love with hip-hop after hearing Wu – Tang Clan for the first time, and started making music as Sina. in 2009. He owns and plays many different music instruments and has got a wide range of music influences, anything from blues and folk, to ambient and hip – hop.

The 6 track EP bleeds creativity with influences from all aspects of music being incorporated in the works of Sina. He lets you submerge, full body, into impeccably produced, brittle clean sound with amazing groove control, touching and emotional. Thus, From Love To Dust never bores and features remixes of Switzerland rising star producer Gards From KC, UK beat smith Kelpe, and UK-based producer Soosh, who has had a collab with Gards From KC for Project: Mooncircle earlier this year.

Teebs – Collections 01

null

Come peruse Collections 01, a menagerie of songs from Teebs on the Brainfeeder label. Like a cluster of exotic birds, anthology of short stories or secret case of sparkling gemstones, Collections 01 further explores the world expressed in Teebs’ previous album Ardour from several new perspectives.

While drawing from the universe of Ardour, Collections 01 is more varied with more samples, each song containing specific elements that give it a unique character. Featuring tracks with harpist Rebekah Raff and Brainfeeder cohort Austin Peralta, Collections 01 offers a range of sentiment, always elegantly displayed. From hypnotic, dust-covered beats and languid daydreams to cascading shuffles and bright bursts of color, this beautiful collection is a further glimpse into the world behind the mind’s eye of Teebs, painter of sound.

813 – Dusty Bubbles

Fourth RAD mood episode is ready to blast ya mind, you hear that right&tight! We are passing the baton to our synth maestro Alexander Goryachev aka 813. RAD started as a label with the cassette made by this kid and that piece of art is now an official rare artifact of the modern Russian music history. eLan – Fuzzy Numbers EP

null

In May there was the “Bleep Bloop Brrrrmmp EP”, 4 original eLan tracks plus fantastic remixes by Byetone (raster-noton) and Lazer Sword.
In August the „Alligator Snaps EP“ followed, accompanied by a massive techno remix by one of the best producers around for quite some time now, new Berliner Cosmin TRG.

Now with the mighty „Fuzzy Numbers EP“ the vinyl trilogy comes to an end. Exactly like it’s 2 predecessors the third and last EP is again limited to 555 copies and comes as a special color vinyl pressing. As if all that wouldn’t be enough, there are also 2 impressive remixes by Modeselektor and Anstam on the flipside.

Hawthorne Headhunters – Myriad of Now EP

null

In search of some new, Black Spade migrated out west to soak up the vibrant Southern California vibes and promptly met producer Proh Mic at the famed Do-Over. The two hit it off and began toying with music, soon bringing I,Ced, another St. Louis expat in LA, into the fold. The collective was taking shape and drew their moniker from ‘Ced’s residence in Hawthorne, California. The St. Louis natives reached out to their old comrade Coultrain and he eventually moved out to LA as well. A jam session at the HVW8 gallery solidified the group’s identity and the creative relationship with it’s owner resulted in an eponymous EP in 2009. Made up of songs done with no intention of release, the EP was the first physical manifestation of Hawthorne Headhunters on HVW8 Records in 2009.

The creative process of the newly formed group was very natural. Members of the group liken the approach to that of old Jazz musicians; organic and instinctual, drawing from whatever influences they were feeling and writing about whatever was on their mind. ;They began plotting a full length record, but Proh Mic andCed decided to pursue solo endeavors instead of focusing on the group and ‘Train and Spade became the official torch-bearers of Hawthorne Headhunters. The duo went in the studio and Myriad of Now was recorded, a 14-track collection of Funk, Electro, R and more that speaks on spirituality, sexuality and everything in between. Carrying on the lineage of Black music dating back to the Blues and the inception of Jazz, Hawthorne Headhunters melt influences together to break new ground.

Robot Koch – The Other Side

null

Although Robot Koch has an international reputation as being “One of Europe`s finest producers of the beat generation“ (Low End Theory), he is much more than just a beatmaker… “(Post)-dubstep infused Electronic Hip Hop“ is far too constrained a label to understand what this producer is all about. Instead of following the sound of his previous albums “Death Star Droid” (“Essential listening” – Bobby Friction BBC) and “Songs For Trees and Cyborgs“ (“Music for a modern age that has rarely sounded so good” – Boomkat), Koch takes the genre defying ingredients from these previous records to another level. After the release of the John Robinson collaboration album (“Robot Robinson” – Project Mooncircle) earlier this year, it seems surprising how extensive Robert’s output is, but don’t be mistaken, this album is a longer term project than just releasing the songs Koch made in the last year. Some of the songs found on “The Other Side” were made seven years ago.

Floex – Zorya

null

Tomáš Dvořák’s most profound album up to date is going further in exploration of acoustic music (especially classical minimalism) and contemporary electronic. Album which takes as symbol Slavic night guard goddess “Zorya Polunochnaya” explores more deep, subconscious and nightly moods of music. However don’t be mistaken, this may be Floex most energetic album up to date – very adventurous, almost storytelling.

Indigo Pyramid – Shades Vol.1-2

In 2009 Indigo Pyramid formed as a collective of 6 experimental beat producers consisting of Infinite Potentials, Billion Dollar Quartet, eLan, 10th Letter, Nigel One and Zeroh aka Zeroh G7. In Feb. 2010 they independently released there first compilation Indigo Shades. The release instantly became a cult hit among fans of the present “beat scene culture”. Since the release of Indigo Shades each individual within the collective has released music and continued performing as individuals. Collaborations have continued within the collective as well and the fruits of that shall appear within the year. No one knows what will come next from the collective but there has been rumor of Indigo Pyramid becoming it’s own label imprint over the course of 2011. For now Skew Records proudly hosts this final free release from Indigo Pyramid. Skew became involved with Indigo Pyramid when Pyramid member Nigel One signed on with Skew Records in early 2010. So even though all the artists on this compilation are not represented by Skew Records we are very humbled and excited to be hosting this amazing compilation. We believe this compilation is a great representative of the crew and the worldwide beat scene and we look forward to see what comes of Indigo Pyramid collective.

AbJo – Sankofa EP

null

As we transition into a conscious era of time, Soulection is kicking off a series of releases from a diverse selection of artists from all over the world. After independently releasing over 10 albums over the past couple of years, San Diego’s very own AbJo has created Soulection’s third installment. AbJo has been on our radar for quite sometime and it was only necessary that we created a project that represents both of our visions.

Sankofa resembles a soundscape that ranges from Future-Soul, Jazz, Eclectic-Fusion, Hip-Hop, & Deep-Thought sounds that trigger your mind into the thought of what The Sound of Tomorrow should sound like. AbJo designs a sound visual that incorporates heavy snares, hi-hats, future-drums, vintage-pianos, timeless-samples, & crisp synths that bring out your roots.
