Dimlite – For Medals

null

«Three sweet songs as a present.. Few years ago we were up to record a whole album or at least an EP together. Then… a pletora of hindrances came along and the folder named ‘Elan + Dim’ remained untouched ever since. These songs are from 2007 / 08, they are and will forever be in demo state. But instead of trashing them…: it’s the season, and you might enjoy them.»

fLako – Mini Tollbooth

null

‘Mini Tollbooth’ is inspired by a novel called Phantom Tollbooth. The film adaptation from 1961 is so beautiful. I like to get lost in these childish worlds of freedom, where everything is possible. This modern fairy tale is about a young boy named Milo who is bored by the world around him. He feels everything is a waste of time. He comes home from school one day to find in his bedroom an anonymous package containing a miniature tollbooth and a map of the Lands Beyond. He takes the map, drives through in his toy car, and instantly finds himself driving on a road to Expectations. Enjoying the ride, he pays no attention to his route and soon becomes lost in the Doldrums, a colorless place where thinking and laughing are not allowed. He is having plenty more adventures like watching Chroma the Great conduct his orchestra in playing the colors of the sunset or meeting The Awful Dynne, a genie who collects noises for Dr. Dischord.

Suff Daddy X Lefto – Come 2 U Live

null

Suff Daddy (MPM, Berlin) and Lefto (Brownswood, Brussels) re-edit the Charles Earland classic “Coming To You Live” from 1980. Suff Daddy turns the song into a typical Suff jam with sick vocal samples, airhorns and micro korg licks. Skol! The Belgian beat ambassador Lefto takes a different route and re-rubs the song in classic Loft style.

DJ Ragz, Mudd, ST/Mic – The Intermission Vol.2

Mudd, Ragz and stmic met up on Dec 3rd through the 5th 2010 at the Timeless Daimyo Studios to put together an LP. The Session started late on Friday and ended early on Sunday. Mudd using a Ensoniq ASR10, Ragz and stmic both using the Akai MPC 2000XL worked on little sleep to produce 13 tracks. The concept of the project was to put together an LP without over thinking the whole production process. The idea was to just sit down and have fun. The three producers who are also very close friends for many years wanted you to have the product for free. Enjoy and please pass this on to your friends.

Prefuse 73/Jaytram/Epstein – Remixed

null

This remix record wanders through the minds of Jaytram (drummer for Yeasayer) and Prefuse 73. They were both asked to plunder and ravage the entire Epstein catalog as the source material and pass it through their respective creative processes. These two creators are less worried about a notion of sanctity of the original and instead are visionaries with the material, engineering something previously unimaginable. There are about 1 million adjectives needed to try to cartograph a tangible roadmap to where this record leads, but we would rather you just take your own journey.

Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra – Hooked Up Classics

null

Shawn Lee dons his Ping Pong Orchestra hat for an album inspired by the Hooked On Classics series of the early 1980s. This popular series of albums (arranged by Louis Clark of Electric Light Orchestra fame) took well-known classical pieces and gave them a contemporary re-working, mostly adding a disco flavor. Lee throws his new musical twist on the idea, taking 12 favorite classical tracks and squeezing them through the Ping Pong Orchestra machine. The end result is an album that will introduce new listeners to legendary pieces of music, and is set to turn the heads of classical music fans.

Souleance – Soupape E.P.

null

Souleance return with another EP packed full of quality, spread over SIX tracks. Following on from their highly acclaimed “Le Plaisir” and “Le Monde” EPs, “Soupape” is set to confirm the French duos burgeoning reputation. Beatmaker Fulgeance (Musique Large) and DJ Soulist (What The Funk?) have crafted six tracks of real quality here. From the melancholic 60s cinematic sounds of opener “Amourette”, via Brazilian-influenced chop-up “Passarinho” and “Automatico” to the unexpected electro-boogie of “Croque Madame and title track “Soupape”, plus dreamy banger “La Romance”, this EP has something for everyone – b-boy hip hoppers, wonky heads and Dam-U-Like boogie fams. Finest Ego – Russian Beatmaker Compilation

null

The tendency towards advanced beats seems to be more and more a global phenomenon. As we already have said: Decentred beats for decentred people. During the last few years arose also in Russia a small, loosely networked scene of people, who have experimented with Hip Hop-beats. But in this case, the young Russians have no examples or references for this kind of music in the musical culture of their own country. All of their inspirations are taken from blogs and from the intensive study of their role models worldwide. The result is an organic, very playful, snappy and jazzy sound, which is carried by a common vibe, but is in the same way as diverse as the finest egos of the artists themselves.

The compilation includes Pavel Dovgal, DZA, Pixelord, Demokracy, Moa Pillar, Arktor, Shawalski, Myown, Nienvox, 813 and Long Arm.

Kixnare – Digital Garden

null

Kixnare, or Łukasz Maszczyński, is a dj and producer originally from Częstochowa now based in Kraków. His firm hip-hop roots have enabled him to grow musically in a way that today he takes inspiration from nearly every realm of sound. He had collaborated with many more and less known figures of the Polish hip-hop scene, but it was the 2007 project ”Class of 90′s ” that really put him on the map as one of the most creative producers in Poland. Since then he has been working hard to deliver that promise – honing his skills as a producer and experimenting with electronics. This is “Digital Garden” really good album.
