Charlie Haden with Chet Baker, Enrico Peranunzi, Billy Higgins – Silence

Three bop classics, two originals, one pop standard: this is not the bill of fare one might have expected so from Charlie Haden, the bassist best known for his long, pioneering association with Ornette Coleman. During the past 30 years, he has usually been heard with msuicians who are accomplished composers, and because he is cosidered irreplaceable by just about everyone with whom he has worked, those musical involvements have been as extensive as they are fruitful – amon them the Keith Jarret Quartet, Old and New Dreams (in part of Coleman repertory group) and his own Liberation Music Orchestra. But Haden’s musical life is varied one and it is a fact that there is no style of jazz in which he is not at home.

Great album…but my vinyl says it’s from 1987 and not 1965!
